While the movie industry was still at its younger years, three men stood up among the rest and took the Hollywood comedic scene by storm. The Three Stooges, namely Moe, Larry, and Curly, became a household name when it comes to entertainment. For years, they have been entertaining people with their hilarious farce physical not to mention extremely slapstick short films. Who wouldn’t laugh at somebody being poked in the eyes, or being slapped at the back of head, or being punched in the groin? Outraged, Healy threatened to file legal actions against the three for using copyrighted material. But that didn’t stop the three on their tracks. Together with Fox Film Corporation, they were featured into their short comedic films and the rest was history.
At present, 20th century Fox decided to pay homage to Hollywood’s most iconic trio. Headed by the Farrelly brothers, who were responsible for the hilarious flicks like Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, and Me, Myself, and Irene, the promise to stick to the original comedic styling of the trio. The movie, as they claim, is not a remake or a biopic, but rather an episode of The Three Stooges set in present time. Originally handled by MGM, which recently announced bankruptcy, the project went to 20th Century Fox. There was a little bit of a problem with the casting, with so many actors and actresses to consider. It took over a year until they finally ironed out the final list of actors. Led by the today’s most comedic actors, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine and Will Sasso as Curly Howard, no one could have been more perfect than them. Together with Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe Howard, it is interesting to see these actors with their perfect chemistry; it’s just like bringing the original trio back to life. Jim Carrey was rumored to play Curly Howard, which was actually true. In fact, he already packed 40 pounds of extra weight. But when Jim’s physicians took notice, they advised that if he would go over 20-30 pounds more, it could be hazardous for his health. Thus Jim declined the role and was given to Will Sasso. The movie starts with the Stooge being literally thrown at the orphanage were they grew up. Raised by nuns namely Sister Mary-Mengele, Sister Rosemary and the Mother Superior which are played by Larry David, Jennifer Hudson and Jane Lynch respectively, the eventually grew up and went out on their own. Later, they face the challenges of protecting their beloved orphanage from being closed. Most of the film’s farce slapstick comedy then happens which they ended up starring on their own TV show.
