In the early 1900’s, three men became popular for their unique comedic brand of entertainment. Moe, Larry, and Curly surely made a mark at Hollywood during those times. Intended for an American vaudeville and comedic act, these guys sure knows how to make the audience laugh their hearts out. Known for their short films, The Three Stooges ruled the comedy circle of Hollywood during the early to mid-20th century. These men were known for their physical farce and extremely slapstick. From the eye poking, to the face slapping; these men would literally hurt themselves just to make their audiences laugh. It didn’t start as “The Three Stooges”. Their team started as “Ted Healy and his Stooges”. They first appeared in a short film titled, Soup to Nuts. The film didn’t exactly go sky rocket but what it stood out was the performance of the Stooges. Later, Fox Film Corporation offered the trio an exclusive contract minus Ted Healy. The furious Ted threatened to sue the trio for using copyrighted material, but the guys went on with their short films with Fox Films nonetheless. Ted formed another group of three, but they weren’t well accepted as their predecessors were. From then on, The Three Stooges became a household name when it comes to entertaining people with their slapstick comedy. Even today, people can still watch The Three Stooges online and enjoy their classic brand of comedy.
Today, 20th Century Fox intends to revive the iconic trio by releasing “The Three Stooges” this year. Directed by the Farrely Brothers, they took on their own spin of the trio’s physical farce and extreme slapstick comedy. They didn’t make a biopic or a remake, but instead an episode of The Three Stooges set on present time. There was a problem with the casting with took over a year to settle, not to mention that the previous company that handled the project, MGM, filed for bankruptcy which later 20th century Fox took over the film. People who’ll watch The Three Stooges online or in theaters will surely have a blast.
They could never have better cast than what they have now. With Sean Hayes as Larry Fine and Will Sasso as Curly Howard, the two comedians are perfect for the role. Taking the role of Moe Howard is Chris Diamantopoulos; it is interesting enough that an action star would take one of the most iconic comedic characters in Hollywood. Chris has appeared on TV shows like Charmed, Kevin Hill, The Sopranos, Will and Grace and The Starter Wife. Together with Hollywood’s biggest names such as Jane Lynch as the Mother Superior, Larry David as Sister Mary-Mengele, Jennifer Hudson as Sister Rosemary, Sofia Vergara as Lydia and so much more. The audiences who’ll watch The Three Stooges online will surely have a riot. It is even recommended to watch it in theater and tag along your friends and family.
The movie started how the Three Stooges ended up in an orphanage. They eventually grew up with the sisters in the orphanage, namely Sister Mary-Mengele, Sister Rosemary and the Mother Superior. Later, the story progressed with the three finding ways to save their beloved orphanage and ending up starring in their very own TV series. Filled with farce physical and extreme slapstick, audiences can’t help it but laugh their hearts out throughout the movie.
